From healthy eating, to new fitness regimes it can be easy to say you’re going to start but actually maintaining it can be difficult.I am a firm believer of it all being down to your mindset. If you say you’re going to do something and 1oo% believe you can, then you will do it and succeed. A lot of this I apply to my personal fitness. In a gym class when I feel like I am actually dying in my head I think ‘No, you can do this’ and it does definitely work! Think positive and positive things will happen.

I have teamed up with The Fort Retail Park in Birmingham to show how setting yourself goals for the year can be done easily with a little bit of help from some retail therapy. The Fort Retail Park is one of the closet shopping centre’s for me other than going into Birmingham City Centre, however you don’t have the traffic or busyness of the city, and it’s 2 minutes from my office, win win win! The fort will definitely help you conquer your new years get fit resolution as there are so many shops with very affordable activewear in. One of my resolutions for this year is to challenge myself. You can see how I got into fitness here and how it is a huge part of my life; but this year I want to push myself even harder and see more results. Here are my top tips on how to stay motivated and get started on your fitness journey:

Start Now

Don’t wait or put it off. Once you have done something around 21 times it becomes a habit and you will naturally continue to do it. Once you have done something ……. it becomes your lifestyle. I can definitely say this worked for me. I now feel it’s a ‘normal’ thing to go to the gym daily, it’s just part of my daily routine.

New Gym Gear

If you look good you will feel good resulting in working harder and seeing more results. That’s my motto anyway haha! Whenever I feel demotivated at the gym new workout wear seems to get me going again. It’s crazy what a new outfit can do for you. Listen up Midlands bloggers and readers, the outfit I’m wearing above was all brought from The Fort Retail Park in Birmingham. There are so many shops which sell amazing fitness wear I was spoilt for choice! I opted for Primark fitness wear as I have seen so many amazing outfits from their new range, and I wasn’t disappointed. How cute is this blush set!  Whenever I hit a plateau in my workouts new gym gear always pushes me harder, maybe its psychological but it works for me.

Workout With a Friend

One thing which I love doing is working out with a friend. Whether you do a class together or help each other with exercises; being with a friend can definitely feel comforting when working out. If you have a competitive side it’s also great for a bit of healthy competition haha. It’s also great for a mini catch up before or after your workout which again will make the work out more fun. Put some of your favourite songs on and there will be no stopping you both.

Make a Fitness Schedule

Plan in what days you are going to go the gym and what classes or workout your going to do each day in the week. At the start of each week I will plan in my diary which classes at what time I am going to do and plan it in around other life commitments. Planning weekly can help you see things in smaller detail and doesn’t feel as overwhelming when looking at the bigger picture of your end goal.

Keep Going & Don’t Stop When it Get’s Hard!!

What you’re working at now you will notice in 4 weeks time. There will be days you ache or days when you really don’t want to exercise, but exercising will only make you feel better. I can tell my mood is slightly lower than normal on a day I don’t workout. Even just introducing a little bit of exercise into your routine I can assure you will start to feel happier and have more energy throughout the day.
